especially for YOU!

Everybody meet my best friend, HUISHI (or Huii as you see in my Tagboard).

Girl, this is for YOU.. so you dont say i bias okay, who say my friends all guys.. now i post nice nice big big picture of you on my blog.

Everybody repeat after me,
"WAHHHHHHHHH.. JASMINE BEST FRIEND IS SO CHIOHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Me: Abuden.
(now Ms. Chan is going to complain why i never put up a nicer picture of her.. but i is think she every angle also chioh wan lorh.
check out the hair,
check out the eyes,
check out the mole!
)

But seriously, I am immensely grateful for her love in my life.. I am feeling very inspired now.. so will let you all in on it shortly.. meanwhile.. yesterday i was surfing when i came across..

have you heard how some people complain that singapore street signs are not friendly as they only appear in ONE language..

Ever wondered how it would look if we have many languages with the same message?

Of SUCH an idea, Mr Brown thinks,

This is very stupid. 这是非常傻的行为。Ini Sangat Bodoh.

Don't do this. 不要这样做。Jangan Lakukan Ini.

Thank you. 谢谢. Terima kasih.

I was super amused. Mr Brown was talking about the new DBS atm screen tries to FIT EVERYTHING in..

another example of how MORE is not better.. lol.

Three cheers to Mr Brown for coming up with this!

Nothing like a lap to return to at the end of a long day.

I have, of course, come across more substantive matters during my hiatus other than this icky picture. ( I believe in the REAL thing, so the above.. cannot make it)

Hahaa.. just wanted to get your attention. =P

Astronaut caught in love triangle faces murder charge

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police say they've decided to file an attempted murder charge against an astronaut who is accused of trying to kidnap a woman she saw as a rival for a fellow astronaut's affections.
Lisa Nowak was ordered released on bail this morning after a court appearance on charges including attempted kidnapping and battery. But now she'll stay behind bars.

In an Orlando court this morning, Nowak faced charges she attacked and tried to kidnap NASA Engineer Colleen Shipman, her rival in an apparent relationship with astronaut Bill Oefelein.

Police say Nowak drove 900 miles from Houston to Orlando wearing diapers so she wouldn't have to stop for bathroom breaks.

Police say she put on a wig and trench coat and waited for Shipman to get off a late night flight, then followed her to parking garage and then attacked her.

During a check of the parking lot, an officer followed Nowak and watched her throw away a bag containing the wig and BB gun. They also found a steel mallet, a 4-inch folding knife, rubber tubing, $600 and garbage bags inside a bag Nowak was carrying when she was arrested, authorities said.

Inside Nowak's vehicle, which was parked at a nearby motel, authorities uncovered a pepper spray package, an unused BB-gun cartridge, latex gloves and e-mails between Shipman and Oefelein. They also found a letter "that indicated how much Mrs. Nowak loved Mr. Oefelein," an opened package for a buck knife, Shipman's home address and hand written directions to the address, the arrest affidavit said.

Police said Nowak told them that she only wanted to scare Shipman into talking to her about her relationship with Oefelein and didn't want to harm her physically.

"If you were just going to talk to someone, I don't know that you would need a wig, a trench coat, an air cartridge BB gun and pepper spray," said Sgt. Barbara Jones, a spokeswoman for the Orlando Police Department. "It's just really a very sad case. ... Now she ends up finding herself on the other side of the law with some very serious charges."

Nowak believed Shipman was romantically involved with Oefelein, a pilot during space shuttle Discovery's trip to the space station last December, police said.

Nowak told police that her relationship with Oefelein was "more than a working relationship but less than a romantic relationship," according to an arrest affidavit. Police officers recovered a love letter to Oefelein in her car.

...

According to NASA's official biography, Nowak is married with three children. During her 13-day mission in July she operated the robotic arm during three spacewalks.

Oefelein is unmarried. He piloted the space shuttle Discovery in December. He has two children, according to a NASA biography.

Nowak and Oefelein were both first-time fliers during their shuttle missions last year. They trained together but never flew together.

===========

I don't know how you feel reading this, but I was just flushed with a disturbance I couldn't quite articulate.

There wasnt any indication from the articles tht she was intoxicated, so I gather she was not acting under the influence of anything, except perhaps her own free will.

And, perhaps, I havent FELT so compelled to do something before. Havent wanted something or in this case, someone, so bad before?

Some wise friend of mine said, we have to decide, right now, when life is just rolling out, what we would or would not do.i.e. lay down your life principles.

Now.

Till wait till that moment is just waayy too late.

Decide how much you want to spend. (gulp)
Decide how far you would go with your significant other before marriage.
Decide what is do-able to get that job.
Decide what you would not do, when faced with pressing demands from a client.

And so on and so forth.

I will be honest, I cant think straight when my head or heart is hot. It doesnt matter that my head cools down quick, and that ultimately I know my heart will choose the right thing.

We see above, crazy things happen quick. I say again, life would be so much better, and safer and happier, if people would just THINK before they do or say something.

But o well.

To all who have been wondering where I am.

Been here - just sorting out what I want to do this year, so havent particularly been in the mood to rant or be philosophical.

You would be glad to know I have s.o.r.t.e.d it out! Muahahaa.. So will write more often.

Some week or so back, I met up with

DOCTOR NEO!!!

Weethong came back to this part of the world and i was SOOO glad to have had the chance to meet him. Yes sir, thanks for making the time!

So because he is deprived of local food in Aussie, we HAD to eat all the fat fat (but o sooooo yummy) Malay food.

Check out my Kumbing Soup.

Got steam come out all.. can see?

And he ate alot.

But he can afford it la.. people is last time track team wan okays, not Nuah Queen like me.. =)

the rawyer and the doctor.

I miss our old jc days so much! I remember how last time, weethong, zhizhi (zhiyang) and I would stay over in the school canteen on saturday nights, purportedly to mug la.. but i think the doctor was the only one who got the real mugging down..

Saturday night RJ canteen gang!

Zhi Zhi is now a commodities broker, earning the moolah for the things he always did.. (not that we agree with what he is doing of course.. quit smoking already man!! lol)

And because I have been in SUCH a nostalgic mood of late, i went to find our old photos..

We have the broker here, at 18, (note the hand written captions complimenting him, are his.. i didnt write those *rolls eyes*)

My conclusion? Ego develops from youth!

My classmate, me, and the doctor at 18!

Do we feel older already or what?

I lurve my friends. I cant believe we've spent so much time together, thank God for the relationships that survive distances and weathers!

But you wanna see what really melts hearts.

My nana..

We had a reunion dinner at church. (which was really farnee.. cuz the Hallal restaurant served like EVERY DISH prawns. the super big kind.. trust me, can get sick of eating prawns wan!)

So anyhows, she obviously didnt like prawns, because she was sleeping most of the dinner..

Here's her at another angle..

i asked her, pointing at the picture of her in my phone:

Me: Who's that baby in the picture? (pretend act blur)
Anna: Me! Me! Me!

SO CUTE SO CUTE SO CUTE!!!!

lol.

postscript: I realized that everything is flushed to the right today, pardon me. I know how to rectify the problem, but it's gonna just be too painful. So bear with it okays?

Otherwise you can stop reading.. muahahahah. =)

Amazing Discoveries (really meh)

So I was fumbling with my phone last Tuesday and made an AMAZING DISCOVERY!!

(There was quite a number of discoveries I made last week!)

We have here, a normal picture of weihuang. (boring like dunno wat)..

But see the prowess of the k800i!!!! Macham like Andy Warhol ah (pop art)

So I couldnt help it but try it on a whole load of pictures.. like this one of my family over CNY 2006 ( i lurve CNY because always have many foods, many clothez, many photoz!!)

Apparently the phone has a function that remixes ur photo. This Andy Warhol effect is called "cartoon" (duh). After the effects thingy..

So this is a picture of MY BROTHER!!! and me (hope this satisfies ur requests about posting MY BROTHER!!!'s photo up here.. he got somemore nicer ones - like I have a draft of this post about him just that i havent post yet.. haha)

That's after..

So I was trying very hard to figure out just what kinda combinations would create the best cartoon effect. From the above attempts, I figured cluttered or bright coloured pictures may not be good.. maybe flat and less details better.. so i whipped out one of my favouritest pictures of (ego) me..

But my theories all wrong la! See this effects thingy made that nice picture of me BAHGAY leh..

You really shouldnt be complaining that the above picture is smaller than all the rest.. i think the fact that I would post such an unglam picture of myself is an effort much to be applauded!! haahh..

So my next amazing discovery involves Furry (thiru) and Eljiah (monkey). So we were out last week for makanz and etc, when we came across, rather.. EYE came across this silly and VERY amusing sign!

So this was a sign at the basement of the Intercontinental Hotel at Bugis (we were trying to remember where the car was parked), and I saw this sign.. I mean.. ???? Surely the more logical thing to do is to state the place the door opens out to, i.e. Hotel Lobby, Lift Landing - "Not an Exit"????? But hahaha.. so silly, i like!

And here's furry and monkey acting with the sign all..

furry is going to be a pilot! *gasp* (chucking one uniform for another i'd say!) and monkey looks like he's smelling his pits.. lol..

The next amazing discovery was actually made by someone else.. not me. It was Friday (we have dress down Fridays) and I, of course, take every opportunity to wear my earrings (i feel naked without my loud earrings, or any earring for that matter.) But i had a duty matter so i had to go to Court. I was in such a mad hassle, change out to penguin suit, then had to rush to a meeting, then had to almost literally RUN to court cuz i was running late.. and i would have gone in, but for the fact that my junior, the beautiful Joanna, pointed at my face.

Joanna: Ay your earrings?

(Me looks quizzical at her. Free hand not holding files moves up to face.)
Me: !!!!!!!
(Mad fumble to tear earrings from face)

Joanna: Confirm just now you not in black and white rite..

Hur hur hur.. =) that's a picture of those earrings btw..

very light, so you cant feel them on ur ears wan.

The next and final discovery of the week involves, the cute until cannot cute anymore.. NANA, or rather, more properly, Anna.

I realized that all girls like to take pictures. (Okay so this is a sweeping statement, but who cares, this is MY blog anyways, right? =))

So anyhows, she grabbed my phone and took this picture of us!

so cute horh.

yuarh.. so cute until somebody commented that "your daughters (read: Jasmine's) very cute horh"

-_-

So finally, this one is not a discovery, but since I am posting I might as well put it here. (this is such a nonsense post anyway)

Durian Feast for adele, yvonne, stella and me!!

btw that greedy hand you see poised there is NOT MINE. But yes yes, we finished the durians nevertheless.

Okay. I promise I would put up a more meaty, less visual post soon!!!

the Mother of all Posts (not really actually)

It has been a while!

Thanks be to the faithful readers who nevertheless check back and BUG me for not blogging!

So to make up for the long hiatus, here's the mother of all posts!!

In true high C fashion, or you can say i dont believe in keeping a person's attention by my long incessant rambling.. lol :

(i) What I have been busy with
(ii) what made me really happy during my hiatus
(iii) what amused me of late

So, hence, therefore...

(i) What I have been busy with.

Well, i had to clear the whole backlog of work that was piling faithfully because of Countdown Party - and then after that, I attended a camp the weekend before last (of which i had to take time to reflect prior to the camp), and at the weekend just past, another camp where i helped to teach (of which i had to take time to prepare).

I still havent really had time to sit down and plan my goals for this year. i know.

Hard pressed. At the end of this year, the people in my batch would be considered "seniors" of their respective departments, a thought that doesnt quite sit well with me just yet - reasons to be aired at another forum. We have to be so deliberate about our time - which I often feel is like a weak attempt to hold water with bare hands - it slips through your fingers doesnt it..

So I am attempting to articulate the peace within, which I do have right now, the attempt of which is distracted and catalyzed by the series of events around the world that, thanks to the BBC RSS feeds of my k800i, i am immediately privy to:

we have (in no order of importance)

1. the instability in the Middle East thanks to Goodbye Saddam, Harlow US's mad attempt to fill the gap:

Makes me think: Are we that close to End Times already - am I ready?

2. Typhoon Utor that gave us the grandest downpour in 75 years in December (according to Lian He Wan Bao), also the night we were filming the testimonies for the New Year Party

Makes me think: I want to sleep when it rains, how come must go to work? What if it floods because I cant tread water, thank God i stay on 14th floor. I used to be really concerned about global warming as a primary 4 kid.. i wonder why now i dont care so much no more..

3. Spade of crazy discoveries in Indian: i.e. bodies of murdered children.

Makes me think: Voice of the poor, social inequality, Singapore better watch it, how do i not forget to remember for the poor? ... poor dears who died!

4. Thai bombing over New Year: this is the area the bombs went off.

Makes me think: Did Thaksin really do something bad, why o why a coup? and.. I WANT TO GO SHOPPING AGAIN IN THAILAND WAN LEH.. NOW HOWW???

5. Crazy Canadian Pig Farmer who murdered 49 women over 10 years (some of the women were butchered: skulls cracked down vertically, front of hands and feet chopped off and refrigerated in his own home)

Makes me think: SICK SICK WORLD. the devil so exists! why dont we hear of women who kill 49 men? sick sick sick..

My point of all this really? 24 hours a day is not enough for me to fully appreciate the significance of everything. Fortunately I dont get into these philosophical moods often: happy most days to nuah and smile at the sun!

(ii) what made me really happy during my hiatus

Last Wednesday, I was walking to work from the gym (YES! I have been going to the gym once a week for the past month! Well done yes?! =D not bad at all i say, considering how i have had the gym membership for the whole of last year and i went a grand total of less than 20 times! heh).

So anyhowz, I was walking past the only patch of green at Raffles Place yonder morn when this fluttery flock of sparrows decided to fly past me. So there I was, rooted to the ground and incredibly amused when one of them little fellows, he couldnt "zhum brake" in time and nearly flew straight into me!!!!

So cute can die! Fat little fellow he was!

And that made me smile all day. Farne thing was, every guy I told about this incident, all made one comment: did the birds poo on you?

Wassup guys.. that thought wasnt even on my mind!

(iii) what amused me of late

And because I am such an entertainer, here are some of the farnier moments this month past.

I had a conversation with Corrine on MSN - she was pointedly amused by my ignorance, as demonstrated below.

Well, whatever.. at least that proves i am not a real bimbo.. a real bimbo knows her products. I found out anyhowz, that the bag and brand she was talking about here:

the print is SUPER CUTE MAN.. i dont mind one of these.. except that my auntie (the whole family of which just came back from HongKong!!) also bought me two new bags: RED (yess!!!) and gold (yesss!!). I already see this happening relationship blossoming between my auntie and me, she knows my taste man!

So anyhowz.. the other great discovery me wants to sharez with youz.

Please click on the image and see how he describes (shameless) me.. hahaha.. But really, on a separate and very serious note, do read Joel's blog, especially the bits about his kids (see Precious Moments). Brings tears to me heart man.

May every daddy be like you Joel!

And of course, what day is complete without snapping away with my trusty k800i? I am a trigger happy girl!

When I took my parents out for dinner one Saturday earlier this year.

They might be the sweetiest old couple I know. Reminds me of this picture.

Hee.

My Keifu, Keith Didi with that silly face I like so much!

And Weihuang came for lunch today! Look at him!

So intellectual horh..

And because you can always trust me to take a picture of me.

Hahahaa. I was just thinking today, MY we've grown old! I mean, 8 years ago, we would be meeting up in our old uniforms, and backpacks after school! And hanging out means the old RJ canteen! and look at us now, in our work clothes all, catching time during lunch at Raffles Place! (parallel in illustrations unintended, i not so lame wan okay!)

so for old times' sake, i went to take picture from album. We were from the same cca: Harmonica Club!! So here's as performing at the Birdpark in 1998. Lol.

Do you know, in the picture above, there is one lawyer (me), one GIC scholar now GIC man (him), four doctors, and probably 2 engineers? crazy wan horh... tsk. but not in contact with most of them already..

here's us at 18, before "a" lvls.. I had chicken pox during my "a"s. quite an experience i must say.. blog about it another time:

Thank God for best friends! Thank God for friends, for which I have been blessed with many!

Okay, this is one long incoherent post. I do apologize for the verbal dia********. (I cant spell so dont bother counting whether i got the number of asterix-es correct).

I thought this would be the Mother of all Posts, but it's not really, actually. I've written longer, visually more embelished ones.. haha.. OH well.

But you ARE glad i am posting again arent you? =)

Being Convicted

So at the behest of 3 friends, I, with conviction weighing on my heart, did a google search of the alleged "best saving account" in town, the Standard Chartered E-Savers account.

Guess what was the first search result?

Not obvious lorh God. (see the goals i set for myself at my first post ever).

Sigh. Tomorrow i go open the account okay?

My new Lappie

So guys.

I DIDNT go to Mustafa Centre in the end cuz I COULDNT FIND ANYBODY TO GO WITH ME.. can you believe that?! lol.. Maybe I should have gone alone anyways right, but I really didnt want a replay of last Saturday at Tampines Interchange.. EEYEERRR.

Anyhows, i finally ventured to the safe shores of Tampines Courts and got my not terribly impressive, but steadily reliable, Compaq Presario ... (pretend to clap can).. I thought it was a pretty good deal for the specs all in a all (dont tell me if you disagree.. I dont want to know!!)

So anyhows, the long awaited photos from the CountDown Party 2007!!! Place your cursor over the pictures for captions!!

I really enjoyed preparing for the Party - i mean it was painful when i had to go to work and all that.. but otherwise.. i think it is SUCH a privilege.. and i had a great bunch of people with me.. so.. God is good.. and God is farnee! =)

2006 went by in a flash.. and we are into Day 5 of 2007 before I know it.. I really havent had the time to reflect properly about the past year.. or begin to get excited about 2007 .. i think i am excited but i would like to know why.. if you get my drift.

Soon soon.. Now I have my lappie.. i have no excuse!!

Tuesday, 2 January 2007
