Ubud Part (ii) - SPA!!

So, i was saying that the best part about Ubud is the spa.

My colleague introduced us to this SUPER attas place, the Uma Ubud... and I had like a three hour spa there.. paid like two hundred sing but it's worth every single cent.. let me show you around before i get to the spa bit..

(got the pictures from various sites, other than the ones i took myself)

when you walk in, the first thing that catches your eye is the swimming pool,

So the best thing about this resort was the incredible amount of space and plants it has around.. super relaxing. and these plants were natural, like a garden, but not like wild and all over the place like unkempt.. so it's a pleasant cross between a garden and nature.

contented sigh.

so you go from place to place on these tiled floors, flanked by well groomed plants..

as with the resort i was stayin at, the places here were also individual lodgings.. except that it was like two hundred USD a night i think.. gulp.

sigh.

And, so we were walking through all these places till we reach the spa, which is a part of a resort ...

and they had such LOVELY KOI!! (yes yes, i stand corrected.. is KOI not COI..)

do u know that some people actually install like thermostats in their outdoor pools to keep the temperature of the water optimal for KOI growth.. and i dont even sleep in air con room lorh.. but having said that, these KOI are lovely..

even the plants by the pool are lovely.

so at the counter,

we had to choose what we want.. which was all really pretty foreign to me.. i look very xiao jie but i dont really pamper myself.. i havent gone for a facial in my entire 25 years can.. heh. in the end we settled for the Javanese Royal Lulur Bath - which was some beauty routine that the Javanese queens used to go for..

so after we made up our minds, we had to go down this passage way...

and down to the place where we get ready for the spa.. but we got really distracted along the way, cuz everything was so pretty..

and because u can trust me to take spastic pictures of myself.. hahha

So anyhows.. this Lulur bath thingy, and I quote, "Lulur is a beauty ritual from the Royal Palaces of Central Java . This gentle exfoliating treatment begins with a Traditional Massage. A body scrub with aromatic mixed spices precedes the application of cooling yogurt and a relaxing flower filled bath. This treatment concludes with a soothing application of body lotion".

Whatever it is, is super shiok.. and this is what actually happened.. i took the picture of the internet since i cant possibly take a picture whilst going thru spa right..

I didnt realize it could be so shiok to have yogurt on u..

so after three hours, we emerged from this place.. suitably relaxed..

I strongly recommend this place for honeymoon!! Must go for the spa!

Ubud Part (i)

Okay so I finally got round to putting these pictures up.

Don't get too hopeful. That's the nicest picture I took of me in Ubud..

So we have me and my colleague and roommate for all firm trips. Thank God!

We arrived in Ubud at like eleven? Went straight from office to airport, to hotel. I realized all hotels / resorts in Ubud are like little houses on their own.

jiak!

Hee.

And like almost all have open air toilets like this one.. I was initially very excited, so I took pictures.

there was this shower thingy, which initially i thought didnt work because it took like forever for the hot water to come out.. so we ended up showering at the tub on the first night.. which was kinda nice, cuz it was just a hole in the ground? and the wall is just glass so you see into the bedroom and you have to like pull the blind.

so i took a picture of what made this bathroom qualify as an open air bathroom, i.e. the hole in the roof. i was super excited that you can see the moon.. there is something about bathing in the open lah..

so I was very happy and thankful for open air toilets until the next night it was like raining, and the RAIN CAME IN THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE ROOF (like duh right). which was okay, except that it washed all the soil in from the roof and made the floor kinda grubby and wet.. ewww.. but that wasnt so bad, some of the bathrooms in my colleagues' rooms flooded cuz their bath-tubs (i.e. the hole in the ground i was talking about earlier) didnt drain well. and so the water filled up.. etc.. and yeah..

And here you have me attempting to be artistic. I thought the ceiling fan from the beamed roof was kinda cool.

Not bad lah horh. Except you can get kinda hiin looking at it from a certain angle. I think the best part about Ubud was the spa experience, it's enough to put in another post.. which is what I will be doing. TAAA!!

Trybe's Opening that Saturday

I had a good Saturday. Started first with breakfast.

So I chopped off Elijah's head.

It was also Trybe's (ex-Thumbs Up!) first official volunteer event after the new branding. all infront..

this isnt our full strength btw. far from it.. =)

the trained volunteers got to mark their presence on the wall. (kids at home reading this, when you get the endorsement of the law, it's art. otherwise, it's vandalism)

funky trybe logo, by our inhouse design Eric V

and the lady whose dream began it all, our dear Rachel.. she is DA BEST!! i mean the amazing thing about this team of volunteers is that SO many of them left illustrious careers in the "real world" to come and give abit of themselves to the youth of Singapore.. come on man!

So they taped up the entrance with like black tape for the grand opening.

and the staff got yours truly to grace the grand opening ceremony, i.e. pull off the black tape.

But I so lady mah, so they tried to encourage me by making comments like how I should rip open the tapes like there was a super sale inside.. shoe sale!! buy one get two free!!
-_-

in the end the twins had to help.

so we were all just milling around,

and i took pictures of and with some of my favouritest fellow volunteers,

My MueyMuey, Samuel

And Keithfu,

Then everyone went crazy when the stress ball tournament began, Rach included.

Mueyz.

the guys were really excited and were sweating all.. i was a hostage, and not dressed to go to war so got bored after awhile and went off to play with Joel's kids, SUPER cute.. we have baby erica,

cute horh. her eyes super big..

and her korkor timothy, who is REALLY intelligent. he was extra cute that day. at Trybe, the tables have holes in them, for us to put in stationery. this day the hole was empty cuz of the stressball fight, so tim actually crawled under the table, pushed himself out of the hole, and was just swinging himself around!

too bad i didnt manage to catch him with legs in the air all... but cute enough!

this one not baby.

haha.. i think you would agree with me kern makes a much better looking guy than girl! =)

after that muey and i went for lunch, and i just took random pictures.. of the petshop next to the prata shop.

which reminded me of the pet terappins MY BROTHER!! and i had when we were little. we used to race them.. yuarh race terappins.. sigh. . =)

and because u can always trust me to snap pictures of myself.

after that i went back home to prepare for cell, and had a good meeting.. but i forgot to take pictures, and it was off to meet WWH for dinner!

haha.. he doesnt usu look so silly.. but thank God for best friends! so he was peering into his bag to determine what was in the goody pack for the vertical challenge thingy..

and was surprised that they gave sweets!

but i was more surprised with what was in his bag!!

Brolly so BIG!

See what I mean..

so he tries to imitage me..

but I think WWH better stick to looking smart.. he does a better job like that.. see.

look like doctor horh, but he's not.. lol.. but the highlight, REALLY should be..

there goes the diet. man.. and there goes my saturday. i wish i had more days like these.. o well.. But it was good!!
